If you have followed my blog or read my articles, you know I mostly write about dog food, but I would like to spend some time on all the other challenges you run into while raising your dog.

There isn't a day that goes by that some dog owner wishes they had an answer to simple questions like how to get their dog to sit, or how to prepare their dog for a trip. I know because of my dog's health problems I wanted to know if there was a more natural way of protecting him from ticks and fleas without using chemicals..

Every Thing You Wanted to Know About Raising a Dog

Many pet owners are looking for the best dog food brands, because of the tie between food and health.The easiest way to find the best variety of dog food brand is to look at the list of ingredients.

It would be simple if that was true, but unless you can decipher the code used by the pet food industry, I'm afraid you're going to fail.

There is more good information to help us find healthy food for us, than there is to find a healthy dog food.

The problem is the pet food manufactories are allowed to use ingredients that are marked not fit for human consumption in their products. Not only can they use this left over by-product crap, they are allowed to call it healthy sounding names.

You would think if you seen dried egg product listed as an ingredients in your dog food that that would be a healthy thing. I reality it can include undeveloped eggs, shells and other tissues deemed unfit for human use.

I found a list of 68 ingredients while doing research for the best dog food brands, that if any ore founf on your dog food label; stop feeding that brand to your dog. Nearly halve of these 68 ingredients are unhealthy and will leave to a shortening of your dogs life if consumed on a regular basis.

I also found a free confidential dog food report written by a guy that has hired a testing firm to find the best dog food brands in North America. The report is copyright protected, so I can't re-print it in this article.

I do know that there are only nine types of dog food in America that were deemed healthy enough to actually end up on the best dog food brands list.

They also list 27 brands that they considered, but didn't make the grade, and there are some big names on this list. Names like Iams, Science Diet and Eukanuba didn't make the cut.

This is a 2nd addition report so there is also six brands that were cut from the list with the reason why listed. Matter of fact the report lists the reason why good or bad for every brand in the report.

After becoming outraged on the things I found out about what they put into dog food, I changed my two dogs to a homemade diet. I'll be the first to admit that at times it is just necessary to have a commercially made back-up. This is why it was so import to me to find the best dog food brands that would be healthy for my dogs.

For those who want to adopt a Patterdale terrier for a companion, there are only two necessary precautions. One, you must learn how to keep up with this breed's energetic disposition in order to give it the proper care it needs. THE SILVER WEIMARANER

The Shar Pei is famous throughout the world as a distinctively wrinkled breed of dog with a blue-black tongue. It is also known as the Chinese Shar Pei or Chinese Fighting Dog, as it derives from China, but it is also called the sharkskin dog. Its name translates to sand paper skin, referring to the texture of its short, rough coat.

The Shar Pei are no doubt an ancient breed, because we can trace their ancestors to as far back as 2,000 years ago! The bluish tongue is unique to only one other breed, the chow-chow, and they are thought to be related. Because of the way it looks and its close link to the chow-chow, the Shar Pei has ties with the giant Mastiff breeds!

This animal sports the easily recognizable hippopotamus head, are of medium size, squarish in profile, and keep a comical frown. For a long time, Shar Pei were used as general-purpose farm dogs in the Chinese countryside, with tasks like protecting cattle (stock), hunting, and guarding the home and the family. The Chinese, believing that the scowling expression warded off evil spirits, raised the dog breed to look the way it does now, along with being intelligent and strong.

To help it in fighting, the wrinkly, loose folds of skin and harsh coat were bred into the Shar Pei, rendering it difficult for the opponent to grab and hold on to.
