During the winter season, it is important to keep your dog warm. If you have a small dog like Maltese or Yorkshire Terrier you may want to consider buying some dog clothes to keep at home, for instance like a dog jacket or sweater to help keep them warm.

Many dog owners, do not know how to keep their dogs warm during winter. Luckily for them, there are plenty of ways to do this. While you choose for an appropriate outerwear for your dog, choose dog clothes that is easy for you to put on and not a struggle for your dog when wearing it. Many dogs are not used to wearing coat or dog clothes so you may need to train them.

Here’s how: Simply put the coat on for a few hours each day and while having the coat on their body, give them some healthy dog treats. Your dog will slowly get used to wearing the coat because they are trained to know that during the period when the coat is on, you will always have dog treats for them.

When shopping for designer dog clothes, many only chooses outfit that is cute, or nice looking for their dogs. But many do not know that material is important when choosing an attire for their dogs. Choose a coat that is made out of durable materials that are easy to care for. Or during winter time, look for water resistant materials so that your dog clothes will not get damp and make your dog sick. Another tip is to consider getting dog boots for dogs who are old or walk a lot because this will help them avoid stepping on ice, snow and salt which will sometimes injure their paws.

Before setting off and buy your dog clothes, get down your dog’s body measurement. This is to ensure that the dog clothes will have a proper fit on your dog and avoid all the hassles or returning it if it doesn’t fit. Also, some dog clothes requires you to only hand wash, or dry wash. Remember to check out ways on washing the clothes.

There are many other ways to keep your dog warm during winter. For instance, think about putting a warm blanket in their dog bed. You just have to think creatively or if you are still unsure how to, go to a local pet store and ask for advise.
