While my girlfriend was out I jokingly put on this red chiffon cocktail dress of hers and her Dog went nuts?

and was barking and chasing me around her house. Luckily she came back but the dress was damaged and I was really embarrassed. Don't you think there is a problem with her dog and that I shouldn't have to pay for a new dress?

I'd be willing to bet your body language and behavior changed enough while wearing the dress that it freaked the dog out a bit. This is normal. Had you stopped your animation and antics and calmed and reassured the dog, he may have settled down and not caused damage to the gown. However, some dogs are rather sensitive and nothing would be set to right again until you're out of the dress.

Running away from the dog (when he reacted to you) was a choice that ultimately encouraged the dog to continue his behavior, thus resulting in a damaged dress.

Fork over the funds. You're busted. Consider it a lesson learned.
